A mountain called Tahoma
Seattleites call it simply "The Mountain." A place revered in Native religion, and for good reason. There is an energy about this place, rising above the ocean and commanding the Northwest. They knew it as Tahoma. Today, it is called Mt. Rainier.

I've never climbed it, but then I'm not a mountain climber. I hiked to the base camp in 1992, before I started smoking and getting old. It kicked my ass then. I passed out the minute we got to the base camp. I suppose maybe that is why I'm not a mountian climber.

But there is plenty of good hiking all around the mountain. While there isn't the expansive vista that I am sure can be seen from the top of Rainier, there are still great views.

A collection of photos from several years of great hikes with good friends!
