And suddenly Cape Town is behind me. I am really disappointed that I didn't have more time to spend there. Last night I went back to Ferryman's and chatted with Lauren a waitress there. She seemed very smitten with me. What a shame I had to run off to Johannesburg in such a hurry. She would have been a sweat companion for a day...

In any event, I did find my way to bend the schedule a bit and fly out on a later flight to Joburg, so I could get a few more hours of the cape under my belt. In hindsight I should have thought about that yesterday and moved the cargo pickup this morning ahead so I would have more than the 5 hours I created.

In any event, I didn't get to do the one thing I really wanted to do on this entire journey... go up Table Mountain. I went there today, and the queue for the cable car was about four hours long. Walked around looking at the view for about 10 minutes, saw lots of great looking young women and a nice panorama of Cape Town, and decided Table Mountain was a bust so why not go to the beach!

And what wonderful beaches they were. I went to Camps Bay and Clifton. It wasn't very crowded, there wasn't very much surf, but it was very pleasant despite walking around dressed for cable cars and mountain strolls. I must have been quite a sight, lumbering around in jeans and combat boots on the beach, trying to be discreet in my examinations of the local fauna.

I will come back here again. There is too much that I left unseen in Cape Town. But, I am lucky just to have had the chance to be there and to do what I was able to do.
